History

Team 1038 has a rich history of success to grow and build upon. The team began is roots early with FIRST on the team level in 1994. Teams in Cincinnati were started at Walnut Hills High School and Aiken High School. After many successful years with the initial schools, team support was developed for Northwest High School. There, the team enhanced partnerships and fostered many additional partners in the four years of competition. The team had very successful seasons with student learning being the focus. A portion of the team migrated once again to its current location, Lakota East High School.

Year 2007
Team 1038 made lots of progress in 2007. Early on, the team ran their first FLL regional at Lakota Freshman School, providing the local FLL teams with a chance to attend state championships. The regional was very successful due to the volunteers of the community, team members, and mentors. As the season progressed Team 1038 was able to build “one of the best robots in the history of Team 1038.”

Year 2006
The 2006 season proved to be one of the most successful seasons for Team 1038 with forty members on the roster and twenty-seven mentors, including many students from Miami University and University of Cincinnati. The team sponsored a regional qualifying event and in the process learned much more about FIRST Robotics. Team 1038 proved to be very successful on the field, becoming champions at the Pittsburgh Regional, Boilermaker Regional Semi-finals and Galileo Division Semi-Finals. They also went to the championship in Atlanta, and won the Delphi’s Driving Tomorrow’s Technology award and the Website of Excellence Award.

Year 2005
During the third year, Team 1038 continued to be a successful team. The team attended the Boilermaker Regional in Indiana for the first time and came out with the Delphi Driving Tomorrow’s Technology Award. This was also the year the team started to focus on the local community, running a very successful First Lego League practice tournament for the local teams with the help of the 35 members and many great mentors. This practice tournament gave us the experience and ability to run many more FLL events in the near future.
